30 Rock is having perhaps its best (or at least most absurd) season yet, so the third season finale in May has some pretty high expectations to live up to. What’s on tap?

Plenty. According to EW’s Michael Ausiello, there’s a “We Are the World”-esque charity single in the works. With one of the celebrity participants being Jenna Maroney.

Okay, so it’s no Jack and his mother. But anytime the show has Jenna sing, you know side-splitting laughter isn’t too far off. 30 Rock is off tonight but returns April 9.

30 Rock” has really grounded itself as upper elite of television sitcoms. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why in its third season, accolades suddenly started pouring in. In a climate where ratings mean everything, the show has managed to endure purely because it is smart and consistent. Its popularity, on the other hand, is a work in progress. The March 19th episode is every bit as smart as the show has ever been.

The show is reliable, so it doesn’t really many ups and downs. Granted, the show has become slightly more mainstream in its later seasons, but at its core lies a bunch of quirky characters trying their best to coexist in an environment.

One of the show’s weaknesses, however, happens to be with the main character, Liz Lemon. She’s like a more articulate “Ugly Betty” in that she’s popular because she should be popular at all. With a protagonist who is smart but not particularly feminine, romance is more a place to go for humor rather than real emotional development. That’s exactly what happens with Liz’s latest boyfriend, Drew (the amazing Jon Hamm). Unlike previous love interests like Floyd or Dennis Duffy, this one scores some major laughs. The storyline doesn’t have to work too hard to unravel this relationship, which is a good thing for “30 Rock.”

Besides that, no major plotlines really progressed in this episode, and that’s not really a bad thing. The rest of the cast functions on gimmicks and laughs, not character arcs. The highlights remain with Jack, Tracy, Kenneth and Jenna. The rest of the recurring characters weave in and out with their one-liners, and the show lives to see another day. It’s not really nostalgic, but the formula works for Tina Fey.

If you want to laugh, “30 Rock” is a sure way to make your night a little lighter.

A jolly amount of laughters was brought in to the second night of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon“. The show received harsh criticism on the first day, but it was toned down on the sophomore night when Jimmy Fallon invited in fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum, Tina Fey as a guest.

Fey, who retained her bouncy nature, talked among others her role as a mother which she often forgot. “There are so many things now that I do where I’ll be like, ‘Oh, now I’m a mom.’ Like when your kid hands you their boogers, and you take it. You’re like, ‘Okay, I’m a mom.’ Or when I find myself getting mad because I’m trying to put underpants on someone who is dancing,” Fey cracked a joke.

She also credited her 3.5 year old daughter, Alice Zenobia, to have helped her a lot in writing. Her character Liz Lemon in “30 Rock” uses the catchphrase “I want to go there” when she wants something, and this apparently was something coming out of Alice’s mouth. “She saw the Disney World website on the computer one day and she’s like ‘I want to go to there,’” Fey revealed.

The comedian and Fallon also laughed over a picture of her at the 81st Annual Academy Awards, sitting two rows behind Mickey Rourke and attempting to get a shot. She noticed Robert Pattinson sitting next to Rourke and asked, “Is that the devil? Who’s the other guy?” Fallon answered, “That’s the ‘Twilight’ dude.” She then commented, “Sexy devil.”

Jon Bon Jovi was the other guest on the Tuesday, March 3 episode. An audience got into a karaoke of his song “Wanted Dead or Alive” and she was joined by Bon Jovi in the chorus.
